[ MUSIC REMASTERING AND RE-ISSUING]

As part of the creation of this site, and related to the possible re-release of Voigt/465, Tame OMearas and Wild West material, I asked everyone I could find again if they had any old cassettes, etc that might contain some 'glorious musical memories'. The Archives page tells the whole story on what I'd found at that stage. Since then I've been given more and have finally finished Tim V's live archives and Patrick's M Squared out-takes.

This page lists all of the professionally released cds and home mastered cd-rs that I have.

If you'd like copies of the cd-rs then send me an email and we can see what we can work out. (remove n.o.s.p.a.m. first though)

All of the Voigt/465, Wild West and Tame O'Mearas recordings were professionally remastered at Studios 301 but I decided to try and clean up as much of the other material as I could at home. I used SoundForge 5 with a number of add-ins (Noise reduction, Click and Crackle removal, etc) and, even though I don't have a sound engineer's hearing, they've turned out quite well.

The studio recordings and vinyl dubs (mainly - there are some live things as well) have been collated into the following compilations (whose covers, btw, don't have any relationship to the times at all except that many of us had a yearning for Lounge and cocktail music before it became fashionable)...

Other stuff that's come my way
(mostly from Murray at Inner City Sound):

The Birthday Party - Drunk on the Pope's Blood / It's Still Living : Live stuff. Nope, still don't like 'em
The Birthday Party - John Peel Sessions / Rough Trade Demos : Nope, STILL don't like 'em
The Birthday Party - Hee Haw / Boys Next Door - Door Door :
much better than expected (especially Mr Clarinet)
Philip Brophy - Salt, Saliva, Sperm and Sweat : soundtrack work from the Tsk Tsk Tsk maestro
Canada - Live at BBs : ex-Famous and Pel Mel cover Aussie hits
David Chesworth
- 50 Synthesiser Greats : his home made first LP, a bit old school
David Chesworth
- Layer on Layer : his first real solo LP, much better than I'd remembered
Crime and The City Solution - Live Exford and Seaview Hotels : far worse than I'd remembered them
Crime and The City Solution - Live and Demos (thanks Kim)
Famous - Those Famous Hit Songs :  The collated, mainly live recordings - best stuff on Archive#6
Equal Local - EPs and singles. Wonderfull - sounds just like post-rock only 20 years earlier
Equal Local - Last Gig 29/5/82. not as clear headed as the studio recordings
Essendon Airport (and + Anne Cessna) : quite marvellous listening really
Fruitshop + Swami Binton : Newcastle post Pel Mel, the real indie stuff
The Laughing Clowns - single, ep and LP selections : vastly better than I'd remembered them - essential
The Laughing Clowns - live : excellent recording but not as great as the studio recordings
The Limp - live : 3 cd-rs compiled by Tim McGee showing the full range of their grand career
The Limp - 2 more live performances from 1980 : from Tim McGee's archives
(added 17/12/06)
(Makers Of) The Dead Travel Fast - Garage D'Or : the official cd compilation - sounds great, buy it
(Makers Of) The Dead Travel Fast - The Vessels : their 1st album - all great
The Moodists - Two Fisted Art : good 2 cd comp of studio and live material.
Pel Mel - 7 different live performances, etc 1979-1982 : from Tim McGee's archives
(added 17/12/06)
The Reels - Live To Air Melb 1981: reminded me how great they could be (and how awful)
The Reels - Studio 221 ABC 1983: quite tired sounding
The Saints - Live '77: I was there and it hasn't improved with time
Scattered Order - 3 90's releases : some great stuff partially hidden by droney, noise things
Sekret Sekret / David Virgin : singles, EPs and D.V. LP - completely marvellous
Severed Heads - Clean / Since The Accident: The early great stuff.
Severed Heads
- Clifford Darling : a mix of excellent and lesser archival material.
SPK
- early EPS : the first couple of releases are surprisingly quite charming
SPK - Auto De Fa : official release augments the early EPs with later 80s work
The Systematics - all cassette and vinyl releases : ranging from the awkward to the sublime
The Systematics / Scattered Order - Live @ Journalists Club 1984 : it is to laugh
[this must have been the M-Squared 'memorial' night that Wild West tried to reform for]
[we failed miserably - I hardly knew where to put my fingers on the keyboards]
Tablewaiters - Gate - never released new-wave album from short lived band linked to Sunnyboys, Machinations and Sardine V. Thanks Gye.
(added 09/01/07)
Tactics - vinyl and cassette : the early singles and "My Houdini" are terrific
Tactics - Bones #2, The Clones of Harry Barrison 81-82 : more live tediousness
Tactics - Chequers / Rex Hotel 80/81 : 80's gig is great
Tsk  Tsk Tsk - Soundtracks : not as listenable as the early EPs but still quite lovely
Use No Hooks & Flaming Star - Live : a bit too slick, but that's the mid 80s (thanks Kim)
Whirlywirld - singles : ooh, err, how times change - overblown electro-pop
Whirlywirld - Demos and Live : not as interesting as they thought they were
Ya Ya Choral - Tinkily Bonk : live and out-takes - the Banshees support is terrific - I put the best on Arch#3
Ya Ya Choral - Volume 2 : this later, rockier stuff definitely has some great glammy pop
Various - A Selection / Growing Pains : the precursors to Can't Stop It?
Various - One Stop Shopping, etc : 6 cds in all with, as expected, a mix of great to shit material
